Types of banner ads available
We offer the following different banner advert options:
- Masthead banner ads (these appear right at the top of a web page next to the ExportHelp logo)
Sizes: 400 x 80 (max)
on the home page and 300 x 80 on all other pages
- Standard banner ads (can appear in the either the left- or right-hand side column or in the main body of the web page)
Sizes: 125 x 125 (max)
- Half-size (button) ads (can appear in the either the left- or right-hand side column or in the main body of the web page)
Sizes: 125 x 60 (max)
- Skyscraper ads (a 'tall' ad that can appear either in the left- or right-hand side column – not used in the main body of a web page)
Sizes: 125 x 600 (max)
- Island ads (appears only in the main body of a web page, except not on the home page)
Sizes: 380 x 150, 250 x 100,
250 x 250, 160 x 600. Other sizes can be accommodated after consultation
- Foundation ads (these appear across the width of the main column of a web page and usually appear at the base of the column, but can appear anywhere within the main body of a web page)
Sizes: 750 x 150
Above the line and below the line
Clearly ads that appear in the top part of a web page are more likely to be seen than those appearing lower down. In this context, reference is commonly made to above the line and below the line (and has nothing to do with advertising context within which these terms are commonly used), where the 'line' is the bottom of a standard 15" LCD screen on a 1024 x768 resolution. Essentially, above the line will equate to the equivalent of three standard ads one above the other.
Duration of insertion
The minimum period for a banner advert insertion is three months.
Creation of the banner ad
The design and creation of the banner ad is the responsibility of the customer. If required, however, a banner ad can be created on the customer’s behalf for an additional fee. We charge R350/hour for creating banner ads. If you would like us to create a banner ad for you, please let us know.
File formats
All banner adverts must be provided either in *.gif or *.jpg format. Animated Gifs are acceptable, but if the animation is particularly distracting, we reserve the right to either refuse the ad or ask you to change it (no penalty will be applied if you then choose not to go ahead with the banner advert). Animations should be 5 seconds or less (5 frames maximum). Flash may only be placed after we have reviewed the ad.
Don’t forget to provide us with the URL (web address) or email address to which your banner advert must link.
Terms of payment
All payments must be in advance. No adverts will be placed without prepayment. Proof of bank transfer or EFT payment should be faxed to 012 6676065 or emailed to chris@exporthelp.co.za. We will accept cheques, but we will require adequate time to clear such cheques. We do not accept part payments.
Positioning of advert
The advert will be placed on the website in the position agreed as specified in the rate card below. These adverts will be placed on a first-come, first-served basis. The final positioning of advertisements on the ExportHelp website shall be entirely at the discretion of Interactive Reality cc. Nevertheless, such final positioning will remain within the confines of the agreed-upon position selected by the customer and as described in the advertising rate table.
Website deadline
If you want the banner advert/advertorial/sponsored text link to appear on the website on a specific date, we require a final copy of the content at least 3-5 days prior to this date. Please submit the advertising material to chris@exporthelp.co.za.

Web site unavailability
The ExportHelp website is hosted on an extremely reliable server and downtime is negligible. However, should the server go down for any reason, we will consider a claim for such downtime. Only the applicable advertising rate will be refunded and only on a pro rata basis; any costs associated with banner design, for example, or any similar costs will not be considered for a refund. The ISP’s logs will be regarded as definitive in determining such downtime.
General conditions
- The website www.exporthelp.co.za is a product of Interactive Reality cc, the holding company (simply referred to as Interactive Reality from now on).
- The advertiser acknowledges that he or she has read and agrees to the terms and conditions set out on this page, and in particular acknowledges that he or she has read and agrees to be bound by these general conditions.
- The advertiser agrees that these general conditions constitute a valid contract with Interactive Reality and certifies that all information provided to Interactive Reality or any representative of the firm by the advertiser is true and correct.
- While every care is exercised, Interactive Reality shall not be liable for errors in or the non-appearance of or the mis-positioning of any advertisement howsoever caused and whether as a result of any negligent or grossly negligent conduct or omission on the part of the owners, employees or contracted staff of Interactive Reality. Any such error, non-insertion, or the like shall not invalidate a contract, nor shall Interactive Reality become liable for any loss or damage including any consequential damage occasioned by such conduct or omission.
- The positioning of advertisements on the ExportHelp website shall be entirely at the discretion of Interactive Reality cc. Nevertheless, such final positioning will remain within the confines of the agreed-upon position selected by the customer where possible, bearing in mind that positioning occurs in a first-come, first-served basis. Interactive Reality cc shall retain the sole discretion to cancel or suspend any order in the event of having to reduce or restrict the size of its publication for any reason, or in the event of the customer failing to make payment, or making late payment for previous advertisements. In the former instance, the advertiser will either be refunded his/her fee or an advert will be placed at an alternative date.
- Verbal cancellation will not be valid; only a written cancellation confirmed by Interactive Reality will serve as notice of such cancellation.
- Unless otherwise agreed to, all banner ads placed on the ExportHelp website will be exclusive. That is, the position will not be shared or rotated with other advertisers.
- Interactive Reality reserves the right to alter, abbreviate or omit advertisements if they appear to be illegal, objectionable or defamatory for any reason whatsoever, and in this regard Interactive Reality’s decision shall be final and binding. Any such error, non-insertion, or the like shall not invalidate a contract, nor shall Interactive Reality become liable for any loss or damage including any consequential damage occasioned by such conduct or omission.
- Interactive Reality also reserves the right to ask banner ads to be altered to conform to the overall standards and scheme of the ExportHelp website. Should the advertiser refuse, then the advertiser may withdraw his or her banner ad with no penalty being applied.
- Advertiser’s instructions must always be provided in writing (e-mail will suffice) and confirmed by Interactive Reality before the booking deadline.
- Payment and proof of payment must be submitted before any advertising is placed. If an advertiser already has a banner advert on the website and wishes to extend their contract, proof of payment for the extension period must be provided as the advertising banner will be taken off the website until proof of payment has been submitted and acknowledged by Interactive Reality.
- The advertiser will still be responsible for any costs incurred by Interactive Reality on instructions provided by the advertiser, even though the advertiser may ultimately cancel the advert.
- Should any monies become outstanding, these monies shall bear interest at an interest rate of 2% per month and capitalised monthly.
- Interactive Reality does not automatically renew existing advertiser's contracts. The onus is on the existing advertiser to renew the contract.
- Where an advertisement has not been inserted or inserted incorrectly, as a result of any error or omission by Interactive Reality, Interactive Reality shall at its sole discretion and without in any way admitting or incurring any liability whatsoever, be entitled to place (or replace with a corrected version) such advertisement on the website at a future date.
- Interactive Reality reserves the right to refuse any advertisements for products and services that are in direct competition with its own products and services.
- No concession, latitude or indulgence allowed by Interactive Reality to an advertiser shall be construed as a waiver or abandonment of its rights hereunder.
- In the event that any of the conditions listed above are found to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, such conditions will be severable from the remaining terms, which will continue to be valid and enforceable.
- The agreement is governed by South African Law and is subject to the jurisdiction of South African courts.
