Why advertise on ExportHelp?

If you need to reach the exporter community or the export support community (including freight forwarders, banks, shipping lines, airlines, export agents, consultants, etc.), then ExportHelp is the perfect marketing channel for you. With ExportHelp you achieve national exposure to a highly targeted audience at an affordable price.

You can choose between banner advertising on the website or on the newsletter, or you might want to try both channels for a more rigorous marketing campaign. Types of banner ads available

We offer the following different banner advert options:

Above the line and below the line

Clearly ads that appear in the top part of a web page are more likely to be seen than those appearing lower down. In this context, reference is commonly made to above the line and below the line (and has nothing to do with advertising context within which these terms are commonly used), where the ‘line’ is the bottom of a standard 15” LCD screen on a 1024 x768 resolution. Essentially, above the line will equate to the equivalent of three standard ads one above the other.

Advertorials

Place an editorial on the ExportHelp web site and provide readers with an in-depth discussion of your product. Or perhaps you want to promote a special event such as a conference or exhibition? Advertorials will only be accepted on a page where they have relevance (or meaning) in terms of the content already contained on that page (for example; a marine insurance product being discussed on the marine insurance page). No advertorials will be accepted on the Home Page.

How it works is that on a web page where a particular topic is discussed, a link will be included within the text discussion referring to your product or service (for example, “Click here to learn more about Product XYZ”). This link will lead to a separate ExportHelp web page where your product is discussed in an editorial style (you will have the possibility of including a banner ad to your web site on this page as part of the cost).

This is a very powerful way of advertising your product as it comes across as a more subtle, third-party evaluation/discussion of your product and appears more objective and convincing than standard advertising. In a sense you will have your own web page within ExportHelp and you can even carry additional links to your web site, supporting articles or similar resources about your product/service.

Obviously, ExportHelp reserves the right not to carry such advertorial if we feel uncomfortable with the product or service being advertised. We will also require you to provide us with existing information about the product or service, or a sample thereof. Advertorial pages will be clearly marked as “Advertorial”.

Price: Considering the effort involved in developing such advertorials, we will require you to commit to at least three months of advertorial advertising. The cost is R995/month, or a minimum payment of R2985 for the three months, plus a fee of R995 for writing the advertorial (max 600 words) and preparing the web page. We will be prepared to offer you a discount if you choose to advertise for a longer period of time – see the advertising rate table below.

Sponsored text links

Place a premier sponsored text link associated with a particular topic anywhere on ExportHelp, except the Home Page. The text link will appear in bold and in a box at the top of the main content of the page in question. The text link should not be longer than 70 characters and will appear as a hyperlink in blue. The text link can be accompanied by two lines of descriptive text of no more than 70 characters per line. It is important that the text link be relevant to the content on the page that it appears. More than one sponsored link may appear on a particular page, but no more than three such sponsored text links will be permitted on a page. Competing sponsored text links may be accepted for publication. The minimum period that we will accept such a sponsored text link is for three months. These ads are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Price: The price of a sponsored text link is R495/month (3 month contract - minimum payment = R1485, excluding VAT).

Creation of the banner ad

The design and creation of the banner ad is the responsibility of the customer. If required, however, a banner ad can be created on the customer’s behalf for an additional fee. We charge R350/hour for creating banner ads. If you would like us to create a banner ad for you, please let us know.

File formats

All banner adverts must be provided either in *.gif or *.jpg format. Animated Gifs are acceptable, but if the animation is particularly distracting, we reserve the right to either refuse the ad or ask you to change it (no penalty will be applied if you then choose not to go ahead with the banner advert). Animations should be 5 seconds or less (5 frames maximum). Flash may only be placed after we have reviewed the ad.

Don’t forget to provide us with the URL (web address) or email address to which your banner advert must link.

Duration of insertion

The minimum period for a banner advert insertion is one month in the case of the website and per issue in the case of the newsletter. The minimum period for advertorials and sponsored text links is three months.

Terms of payment

All payments must be in advance. No adverts will be placed without prepayment. Proof of bank transfer or EFT payment should be faxed to 012 6676065 or emailed to chris@exporthelp.co.za. We will accept cheques, but we will require adequate time to clear such cheques. We do not accept part payments.

Positioning of advert

The advert will be placed on the website or in the newsletter in the position agreed as specified in the rate card below. These adverts will be placed on a first-come, first-served basis. The final positioning of advertisements on either the ExportHelp website, or the ExportHelp newsletter shall be entirely at the discretion of Interactive Reality cc. Nevertheless, such final positioning will remain within the confines of the agreed-upon position selected by the customer and as described in the advertising rate table.

Website deadline

If you want the banner advert/advertorial/sponsored text link to appear on the website on a specific date, we require a final copy of the content at least 3-5 days prior to this date. Please submit the advertising material to chris@exporthelp.co.za.

Newsletter deadline

If you want your ad to appear in a particular issue of our newsletter, then you need to submit your advertising material to us by the 15th of the month. Our newsletter comes out in the second half of each month. Please submit the advertising material to chris@exporthelp.co.za.

Web site unavailability

The ExportHelp website is hosted on an extremely reliable server and downtime is negligible. However, should the server go down for any reason, we will consider a claim for such downtime. Only the applicable advertising rate will be refunded and only on a pro rata basis; any costs associated with banner design, for example, or any similar costs will not be considered for a refund. The ISP’s logs will be regarded as definitive in determining such downtime.
